Gut Healing Gummy Snacks (Toddler Approved)

These gut healing gummy bear snacks are packed with gut healing super powers thanks to gelatin and Microbiome Labs IgG2000. But, the real reason these snacks are awesome is that my toddler will down about 10 of them in one sitting, improving his gut health without even knowing it.

About a year ago, my then 1.5 year old started having chronic, unexplained diarrhea. And after a few months, and a lot of ups and downs, I finally figured out that he was reacting to gluten. And with my Celiac disease, that wasn’t really a surprise.

I got him tested, and he does in fact have one genetic marker for Celiac disease, so we’ll be avoiding gluten with him for the foreseeable future. I had already removed gluten from his diet before we got his bloodwork done (Rookie move, I know. But I couldn’t get him in to see the GI specialist fast enough.) so it’s still uncertain whether or not he does have Celiac Disease, but he definitely has the genetic potential PLUS a history of reacting negatively to gluten.

But, flash forward a year and he’s been thriving on his gluten free diet, with no diarrhea in sight. Except when he gets a virus. He just seems to be more prone to digestive disturbances, in the form of diarrhea, whenever he gets a fever. So much so that I figured I needed to build up my mom toolkit of gut-healing tricks for whenever he gets sick (which isn’t very often, thankfully).

And that’s where the gut healing gummy snacks were born.

I really wanted to get some gelatin and bovine immunoglobulins (these are especially helpful when healing the gut from diarrhea) in this toddler, but the more I pushed him to take it in a drink or applesauce, the more he didn’t want to do it (typical).

So, I got creative and gave him some gut healing gummy snacks that he just couldn’t refuse. And he loves them!

So, here’s the recipe for my very much toddler approved gut healing gummy snacks – and yes, I eat them by the handful too.

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Bloom the gelatin: pour 1/2 cup of the juice into a medium sized bowl and sprinkle the gelatin evenly over the top. Let this mixture sit, undisturbed, for about 5 minutes.

  2. Heat water to approximately 120F and pour over bloomed gelatin mixture.

  3. Wisk together making sure to get rid of any clumps.

  4. Add final 1/4 cup of juice and honey if using and mix.

  5. Let mixture cool and then add the MegaIgG2000 powder.

  6. Use a spoon (the mixture is too thick for the droppers that come with the molds) to fill up the gummy molds.

  7. Refrigerate for 1-2 hours, then remove gut healing gummy snacks from the molds and enjoy! Store in the refrigerator.
